Repairing or replacing your roof can be a stressful process. So when the time comes to have it done—you want to be sure that you’re dealing with a reputable company that adheres to safety guidelines and state laws.
Many people in Texas are unaware of a new law passed in 2019 that makes it illegal for the homeowner and/or contractor to knowingly offer or accept any kind of rebate, compensation or "waiving" of the cost by way of a reduced deductible or similar tactics.
At EA Roofing, we follow strict legal and ethical standards when it comes to dealing with homeowners and any potential insurance claim.
We will gladly provide assistance in guiding you through the process...but always make it clear that the homeowner is solely responsible for their insurance deductible.
Our primary service area includes Tyler, Texas and its surrounding communities...but we can travel to outlying area in East Texas as needed.
We're fully licensed and insured and maintain an A+ rating with the local Better Business Bureau.
Please take time to browse the pages of our website to find out more about our capabilities and then call 903-805-9123 to request an estimate. We look forward to discussing your next project!
IT'S AGAINST THE LAW!
In 2019, Texas passed a law requiring homeowners pay the full insurance deductible they agree to when purchasing their policy. This law also makes it illegal for a contractor to pay, waive, absorb, rebate, credit or otherwise decline to charge or collect a deductible.
THEY HAVE TO CUT CORNERS TO AFFORD IT
There is no way for a reputable contractor to actually "waive" your full deductible. They must make up their loss somewhere, and that usually comes at your expense with sub-standard materials and workmanship.
THEY ARE INVOLVING YOU IN CLAIMS FRAUD
Contractors who are "waiving" your deductible sometimes try to make up for an uncollected deductible by submitting a claim for phantom damage and/or an inflated invoice to the insurance company. You may be charged with a misdemeanor or felony, depending on the amount of the claim, for unknowingly participating in an illegal scheme.
REMEMBER THIS: IF THEY'RE WILLING TO BREAK THE LAW—WHAT ELSE WILL AN UNETHICAL CONTRACTOR DO?
